Terry Townsend

 
Agent Terry Townsend has been an Iowan for almost 40 years, and has been serving the church for nearly as long.

Terry has served as a youth pastor and as a senior pastor. In 1998, Terry began selling insurance to churches and ministries. Shortly after, American Church Group of Iowa was formed. Since then, Terry has helped the agency grow from 30 ministry customers to more than 600.

Terry and his family live in the Des Moines area. He shares, “I have a passion to help church-related organizations make sure that their insurance needs are being met with comprehensive coverages and reasonable rates.”

Ed Hansen

Agent Ed Hansen joined American Church Group in 2008, after serving more than 25 years in vocational ministry.

Ed’s ministry experience includes serving as an Administrative Pastor, Senior Pastor, and Executive Director of a Missions Bible Training Center during which time he completed his Masters Degree in Christian Education.

A life-long Iowan, Ed and his family live in the Des Moines area. Ed is eager to serve you and shares, “My role at American Church Group gives me the opportunity to help protect ministries through excellent insurance service and coverage, and at the same time to help lift the hands and hearts of those I meet and serve.”

Larry Whetstone

Larry Whetstone has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career as a life and health agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 1979, he opened the Whetstone Agency in Oklahoma and began working with ministries and representing Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company.

After spending many years as an agency owner, Larry sold his agency to enjoy retirement. However, he found that he missed working with pastors and churches. Brotherhood Mutual approached him about an opportunity to represent American Church Group of Iowa/Nebraska, and he jumped at the chance.

Larry and his wife Carolyn currently live in Lincoln, Nebraska. They've served the Church of the Nazarene for many years, as church treasurer, board members, teachers, finance committee members, and more. In addition to raising four children of their own, the Whetstones provided care for 17 foster children over the years.

Stephanie Samuels

Customer Service Agent Stephanie Samuels began supporting customers from Brotherhood Mutual’s corporate office in 2010, after she graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with a bachelor’s degree.

Stephanie enjoys serving the ministries at her church, whether it’s volunteering for outreach events or helping during Sunday services. She has a teaching background and loves working with children and youth at her church. Vacation Bible School is Stephanie’s favorite time of the year.

Stephanie is thankful she gets to work alongside a team and serve customers who have the same passion for Christ. “I am blessed to be able to help support Iowa and Nebraska’s churches in advancing God’s Kingdom,” she shares. “Everyone is so friendly and God’s love truly shines through them. I’m here to help with any questions or concerns our customers have along the way.”
